Marron Creek Wines are produced from a single, 40-year-old certified organic vineyard at the southern tip of Western Australia's celebrated Frankland River region. Formerly known as the Old Kent River Vineyard, this pioneering site is now owned and managed by a local Frankland River farming family committed to preserving its remarkable legacy.
The property takes its name from the natural Marron ponds that run through the estate. Marron — a native freshwater crayfish found exclusively in Western Australia — thrive only in waters of exceptional purity, and their presence here speaks volumes about the health of this land. Prized worldwide as a true delicacy, the Marron are a fitting emblem for wines that share the same qualities: purity, rarity, and a deep sense of place.
The symbiosis between the Marron ponds and the surrounding vines is no accident. Certified organic farming ensures the entire ecosystem remains in balance, from the pristine waterways to the expressive fruit grown in the vineyard. Cool-climate conditions and sustainable viticulture combine to produce wines of genuine freshness, precision, and character — wines that, in the words of winemaker Brian Kent, speak with clarity and authenticity of this extraordinary place.
Marron Creek Riesling 2024
Frankland River, Western Australia — Certified Organic
Sourced from the estate's organically farmed vineyard planted in 1988, this Riesling comes from the southernmost reaches of the Frankland River GI, where the Karri forests begin and the cool climate is at its most pronounced. Ironstone-rich soils and a long, dry growing season — with harvest brought forward slightly by warm conditions in late January and early February — produced a small, intensely flavoured crop, hand-picked in the early morning hours between 16 February and 1 March.
The result is a texturally driven Riesling with racy acidity carrying bright citrus and nectarine across the palate. Subtle notes of talc, iodine and saline minerality add depth and complexity, leading to a wine of outstanding length and purity. Classic Frankland River in character — precise, expressive, and built to age beautifully.
